Wake Up New England! Dunkin’ Donuts is Going G-Free

Good morning Freakin’ Gluten Free!!  I have some wicked awesome news from New England’s iconic coffee shop.  Dunkin’ Donuts announced on Wednesday that they will now offer gluten-free options.  So, on Monday morning when you stop in on your way to work for a large hot coffee with two splendas and a splash of nonfat milk, order a cinnamon sugar doughnut or blueberry muffin.

In the article on, Dunkin’ Donuts said the pastries will be packaged separately to avoid cross-contamination.  The article also makes the subtle, but stomach-ache threatening,  distinction that the cinnamon sugar doughnuts are wheat-free, and the blueberry muffins are gluten-free.  So be sure to double check before you order and take a bite.

Personally, I’m a little skeptical of having gluten free pasties from a large coffee-doughnut chain.  I’ve found that mass-produced products are never as tasty, or healthy, as the home-shop bakery at the local farmers market.  Have any of you tried Dunkin’s muffin and/or doughnut yet?  Please share your experience below!
