My Story

My name is Courtney and I became Freakin Gluten Free when I was 15 years old–almost 11 years ago.  At the time, no one had ever heard of gluten. People looked at me like I was crazy whenever I asked about it.  With my brother and dad also being allergic (it’s very genetic), my whole family went on a gluten free diet. You wouldn’t find any breads, flour, pasta, and other obvious gluten in our house. Unfortunately,  without realizing it, I continued to consume gluten hidden in food and products.  Now, I read labels and call companies on a regular basis to keep any gluten from touching my tongue, skin, and scalp.  I am extremely sensitive and want to help us all be FREAKING GLUTEN FREE.  Join me as I find out more about random things we can, and cannot, have on a gluten free diet!

Hello! I just discovered your blog and finding it very helpful so far!! Our family (myself, my husband and two little boys) just went gluten free and casein free so I am researching and learning as much as I can. One thing I am on the search for are gluten free shampoos, conditioners, bath soaps and hand soaps. I want good products that won’t leave hair and skin blah!! Can you offer any suggestions as to these products?

      Hi Janna,
I’m glad you found my blog and that you’re finding the resources and recipes helpful. I use Costco’s Kirkland brand for shampoo and conditioner-it comes in typical Costco fashion, family size! It also says gluten free on the bottle. I’ve also used the Oraginix brand that you can buy at any CVS or grocery store. For soap, and lotions I use Hugo, a natural brand that you can order online or find at Whole Foods. Hope this helps!

      Staying Gluten free together,
      Freakin’ Gluten free
